The show has come and gone. For a fleeting two weeks, Faulty Fancy was up at the Looking Glass Gallery in the Plemmons Student Union on Appalachian State University. It was graciously recieved by the students and visiting public, with several articles published in some of the local newspapers and a completely filled response book. Every time I went to play, "fly on the wall" in the gallery there was at least one other person in the space viewing and commenting on the work. This was one of my favorite parts about installing the show. I could walk around and listen freely to the audience comment on the work. It was fascinating to hear people draw their own connections and create their own narratives about each piece. The Big Bad Wolf certainly received the greatest amount of attention and dramatic reactions. He was just subtle enough...
As much as I would like to plunge forward into the series, I find myself in an unusual place. I am no longer a student. Technically, I will not graduate until December after student teaching, but I no longer have the ability to work in the sculpture studio. The sculptures, along with my materials and tools, have to be removed by next week. This is very unfortunate and has caused a bit of a delay in my creative process. Hopefully, I will be able to get something underway before too long. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks for the support,
